SOME hospitals in Cagayan de Oro have declared "full capacity" as all of their Covid-19 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are already occupied.

As of August 10, a total of 734 Covid-positive patients are admitted at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) and the private hospitals in the city.

Of the 734 Covid patients, 253 were in the NMMC's Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Disease (EREID) and CEREID, and 481 were admitted in the private hospitals.

Of the 253 admitted at the NMMC, 174 are residents of Cagayan de Oro, 63 are from Misamis Oriental and 16 are from other areas in Northern Mindanao.

Of the 481 admitted to the city's private hospitals, 458 are residents of Cagayan de Oro, 16 are from Misamis Oriental, and seven are from other areas in Northern Mindanao.

Due to the hospitals' full capacity, some Covid-positive patients are staying in the hospitals' emergency rooms while others are outside waiting for vacant ICU beds.

NMMC liaison officer Dr. Bernard Rocha urged the public to always practice the minimum public health standards and to get themselves vaccinated.

"We have to arrest the spread of the virus. We will do our part dinhi sa NMMC para sa atong mga igsoon nga natakdan na gyud," Rocha said.

"Mangayo mig tabang sa inyoha nga magpabakuna gyud kung inyo'ng panahon magpabakuna. The vaccines work," he added.
