MECQ extended in Cebu tri-cities, 3 provinces

FOR the second half of August, the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu as well as the provinces of Aklan, Apayao and Ilocos Norte will remain under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) while Laguna, Iloilo City and Cagayan de Oro City will de-escalate to MECQ.

Other areas that are under MECQ for August 16 to 31, 2021 are Bulacan, Cavite, Lucena City, Rizal and Iloilo Province.

The National Capital Region (NCR) remains under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until August 20 while Bataan is under ECQ until August 22.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. announced these quarantine classifications Friday, August 13, after President Rodrigo Duterte approved the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Diseases.

Placed under GCQ with heightened restrictions from August 16 to August 31 are:

  • Ilocos Sur, Cagayan, Quezon, Batangas and Naga City in Luzon;
  • Antique, Bacolod City and Capiz in Western Visayas;
  • Cebu and Negros Oriental in Central Visayas;
  • Zamboanga del Sur, Misamis Oriental, Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao Occidental, Davao de Oro and Butuan City in Mindanao.
  • Tarlac, Baguio City, Santiago City, Quirino, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Puerto Princesa in Luzon;
  • Guimaras and Negros Occidental in Western Visayas;
  • Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, General Santos City, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands and Cotabato City in Mindanao.
