Bacolod, Negros Occidental receive tourism excellence award

THE Bacolod City and Negros Occidental were recently cited as Tourism Excellence Awardees for 2009 based on the recent Western Visayas Tourism assembly held at Roxas City, Capiz.

Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson lauded Friday that the award is an indication that the city can further excel in various fields and programs.

The official also noted that the latest recognition supplemented the award received by the legislative body, which included the 2009 Outstanding Sanggunian of the Philippines for highly urbanized cities category by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and Philippine Councilors League (PCL) for Excellence in Legislation award.

On the other hand, the province’ award was based on the SP Resolution No. 1025 series of 2009, which stated that the Sangguninang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board) recognizes the effort of tourism leaders of the province who shared their ideas and talents in ensuring the success of every tourism event in the locality, recognizing the active and full support for tourism development given by the different local government units in the province.

Bacolod City, meanwhile, had earlier won the Best Tourism Oriented LGU (Highly Urbanized City Category) as L’Fisher Hotel bagged the Best Hotel Award (first class category), Bacolod Sylvia Manor as Best Hotel (standard category) and Sun.Star-Bacolod as Special Awardee for travel publication.
