The worst fears of Choco Mucho has been confirmed as middle blocker Maddie Madayag has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear on her left knee.

The team made the announcement on its Instagram page on Friday afternoon, saying, “We are all praying for your speedy recovery from your ACL injury. Nothing can stop the heart of a true Titan! See you on the court again soon.”

The injury occurred on Wednesday in Game One of the battle for third place. The 23-year-old was attempting an attack and got blocked by Petro Gazz’s Ria Meneses. She then landed awkwardly and immediately clutched her left knee as she writhed in pain before she was taken off the court on a wheelchair and brought to the hospital by medical personnel.

This is Madayag’s second ACL injury. Back in 2016, she suffered an ACL tear on her right knee and missed Ateneo’s campaign in the women’s volleyball tournament of UAAP Season 78. (JNP)
