3 wanted Koreans nabbed in Angeles

THREE South Koreans wanted for illegal drugs and fraud in their country were arrested on Tuesday, August 10, by personnel of the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said the BI Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) nabbed the three foreigners at their residence inside a subdivision in Angeles City.

The suspects were identified as Han Jeongcheol, 47; Yang Wonil, 48; and Cho Sunggye, 56, who are all illegally staying in the country.

The FSU operatives conducted the operation to serve a deportation warrant against Han, who has been wanted for illegal drugs in his country.

During the operation, the FSU officers encountered Yang and Cho, who happened to be staying in the same house.

Upon verification with South Korean authorities, Yang is also wanted for fraud in his country.

It was learned that a Korean court issued an arrest warrant against Han on August 23, 2018 after being charged for violating his country’s Narcotics Control Act.

Yang is also subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Seoul district court a year ago, based on the charge of fraud in violation of Korea’s Criminal Act.

Cho, on the other hand, was ordered to be deported by the Bureau eight years ago for being an undocumented and overstaying alien.

The trio is now detained at the BI Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending their deportation.
