4 more Homecare Center staff test positive for Covid-19

THE head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) in Lapu-Lapu City, Annabeth Cuizon, revealed that four more staff members of the Homecare Center in Brgy. Gun-ob tested positive for Covid-19.

These are in addition to the first 33 who tested positive in the facility, 31 of them being minors and two are staff.

Cuizon said on Aug. 9, 2021, 15 more staff underwent a swab test after the contact tracing had been done.

Those who tested positive were all asymptomatic and were not transferred to an isolation facility.

The staff were not sent home either while they waited for their swab test results so as to avoid possible transmission in their respective households.

Three other members of the Homecare Center’s staff were asked not to report to work for now as they were on leave during the swab test and thus, were not able to undergo testing.

However, Cuizon assured that this would not affect how the children at the facility will be taken care of as those who tested negative can still tend to them.

Barriers have been placed within the facility to help curb further transmission but the minors and staff isolating there are being looked after and their needs provided for.

Of the 31 youth residents who tested positive, 15 exhibited mild symptoms while 16 were asymptomatic.

They were also housed in a different building, to separate them from those who were not infected. (GCM / CCP)
