Guerrero, Dimla tandem in 2022

FORMER Floridablanca town mayor Eddie Guerrero will once again throw his hat into the political arena as he teams up with three-term Councilor Arnold Dimla for the mayoralty and vice mayoralty posts in the May 2022 elections.

Guerrero, who served three terms as mayor of this town from 2007 to 2016, announced on Friday, August 13, 2021, that he will be running for mayor and his running mate is Dimla.

The former mayor said he has already completed his political line up namely her daughter incumbent Councilor Dr. Lec Guerrero, aspiring councilors Kap. Joel Santos (Del Carmen); Dennis Cortez; Ronald Capulong; Ronald Bautista; Dr. Adonis Magat; Bong Dabu and Kap. Eddie Santos (Valdez).

Guerrero said that he has already gained the support of 11 out of the 33 barangay chairmen, adding that ex-chairmen and kagawads have also pledged their support to his team.

Guerrero said among his priority projects once elected are food security, health services and quality education.

During his term as local chief executive, Guerrero's milestone projects were the construction of four major bridges, public market, gymnasium, integrated high school (Diosdado Macapagal HS) and others.

Guerrero also said he is opposing the proposed loan and the putting up of a landfill being pushed by the present administration.

Guerrero also said that he is opposing the proposed 'loan' and putting up a sanitary landfill in his hometown.

"We will oppose the loan for the plan relocation and construction of a new municipal building as well as the sanitary landfill which will cater to the garbage of other towns in our beloved municipality," Guerrero said.

Guerrero will be going up against incumbent Mayor Darwin Manalansan and Dr. Allan Policarpio, another mayor wannabe.

Meanwhile Dimla, a graduating three-term councilor will be going up against incumbent Vice Mayor Mike Galang.

In May 2016, after his term as mayor, Guerrero ran for vice mayor but lost to Galang. He again ran for mayor in 2019 but lost again this time to Manalansan.

Guerrero admitted that this time around it will be a "different story" as he already learned from his past ' political mistakes'. (Chris Navarro)
