6 things to expect when getting vaccinated

ONE surefire way to stay protected and protect loved ones from the Covid-19 virus is to get vaccinated. A number of new vaccination sites have been set up to accommodate everyone including the newest and sixth vaccination site in the city which is located right at Ayala Center Cebu.

After registering at www.pabakunata.com and receiving the confirmation text from Cebu City, what’s next? Here are six things to expect when you arrive at one of the most important appointments of your life.

Step 1: Registration

The registration area is located at level 1 near Uniqlo. First step is to fill out a form containing personal data, medical history, and other relevant information. Our tip: Head to the site early so you can skip the waiting time and go straight to the registration process. According to Cebu City Health Officer Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, this new vaccination center can accommodate up to 500 people at a time.

Step 2: Screening

Once registration is done, head over to the screening area for an assessment of any Covid-19 symptoms, comorbidities, as well as other pertinent information regarding your medical history. They will also screen you for health concerns such as age and allergies based on the guidelines specific to the vaccine.

Step 3: Counseling

Before you get jabbed, assigned personnel will explain the ins and outs of the vaccine, what precautions to take afterward, expected side effects, and when the second dose will be depending on which vaccine is given. This can range from 12 weeks to seven days. They may also advise you to take certain medications depending on individual health concerns.

Step 4: Vaccination

Finally, it’s time to get vaccinated! Don’t worry as the process is quick. Just make sure to get your phone out for the perfect “just got jabbed” selfie.

Step 5: Encoding

The fifth step is when they log your vaccination. Here you are provided with your vaccination card where one stamps your first and second dose and encodes other details such as what type of vaccine you’ve received and when and where you got vaccinated. A tip is to make a few copies. Snap a photo, or scan it and keep a digital copy just in case it gets misplaced. You can also laminate it at National Bookstore or Picture City after your second dose.

Step 6: Monitoring

Getting vaccinated may have different effects on everyone. Here they monitor you for 3 mins to see if you’re good to go and will advise you to take certain precautions as part of the aftercare process.

Bonus Step: Treat Yourself!

As a thank you for keeping the community safe, Ayala Center Cebu has a wide range of exclusive rewards for those who have gotten their first or second dose. Stop by Bo’s Coffee, Dimsum Break, Gerry’s, Harbour City, Hukad, Jollibee, Pancake House, and Pizza Hut for the best discounts on food and beverages. Apart from food and drink promos, Power Mac has a discount of up to 20 percent on Apple products while SoFab is also giving a free pair of shoes for any purchase of a regular item. Just present your vaccination card to avail of these treats. (PR)
