THE Department of Agriculture (DA), through the Special Area for Agricultural Development (Saad) program, turned over some P1,011,000 worth of agricultural inputs and farm machinery to three farmers and irrigators associations in Zamboanga del Norte.
DA Regional Executive Director Rad Donn Cedeño led the turnover Thursday, August 12, of the agricultural inputs and farm machinery to the beneficiaries in Sianan village, Godod, Zamboanga del Norte.
Cedeño said the recipients of the assistance are: Sianan Makogihon Farmers’ Association; Lomogom Irrigators Association; and Gutayan-Domalinao Irrigators’ Association.
Cedeño said they received two units of rice thresher, a rice mill, 180 bags of organic fertilizers, 210 bags of inorganic fertilizers and some assorted vegetable seeds.
“The DA and other government agencies will remain steadfast in providing the support you need, so you do not have to worry,” Cedeño told the recipients.
Emphasizing the importance of the farmers’ role in making the project successful, Godod Mayor Abel Matildo urged the farmer-beneficiaries to do their part in sustaining the livelihood project.
“Since you are provided with immediate assistance by the government, all you have to invest in is the diligence and dedication for the development of your association and your way of living,” Matildo told the recipients. (SunStar Zamboanga)
