THE City Mayor’s Office has been placed on lockdown starting Monday, August 16, 2021, after one of its employees tested positive for the virus that causes the coronavirus diseases (Covid-19).
Mayor Jerry Treñas ordered the disinfection of the executive office and contact tracing of all personnel.
“All the staff will be working from home in the meantime. We will be closed from two to three days depending on the results of swab test of identified close contacts,” he said.
First level contact tracing is currently being done through the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit. If needed, there will be a second level contact tracing on Tuesday.
“I continue to urge everyone not to be complacent. Covid-19 is still present and it does not choose a person or place to infect. We cannot risk anyone getting infected at this time when it is still very difficult to get a room at the hospitals,” the mayor stated.
The city has been placed under modified enhanced community quarantine from August 16 to 31, 2021.
“With the presence of Delta and Lambda variants already here in the region, we can protect ourselves by taking the test when experiencing symptoms for proper medical attention, and always follow the safety protocols. I am requesting everyone to stay vigilant at all times while we continue to shield the community,” Treñas said. (PR)
