A GROUP of family and friends visited the astonishing Guintubdan mountain resort in Barangay Ara-al, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental not on an ordinary day but last Friday the 13th.

They said going out on Friday the 13th will bring you bad omen. But not to these vigorous group led by Danicah Therese Moya and Dhels Jaster Dulla.

It even boosted their enthusiasm to explore scenic spots without a doubt.

They left Bacolod City and traveled to Guintubdan. It was a two-hour trip before they got to the mountain resort, which is supervised by the City Government of La Carlota City.

Guintubdan is a tourist spot in La Carlota City. It continues to attract people to visit the place, more so now that it is pandemic, an outdoor nature trip has become the "in" thing.

You can see the waterfalls either through the viewing deck set up by the City Government of La Carlota City or by trekking.

The City Government has established a pavilion many years ago so that the people could have a place to stay for an overnight or a day tour.

The verdant forest cover surrounding the place induced the cool weather.

Guintubdan inhabits seven waterfalls. They are named as Busay Oro, Abaga, Mayor, Kapid (twin falls), EZ, and Dalupya. One should take an effort to trek to get into the picturesque waterfalls with frigid temperatures.

Busay Oro is where the Oro Plata Mata movie directed by the late Peque Gallaga was filmed. But swimmers are not allowed there because it is 32 feet deep and it is not safe to just let anyone come without supervision.

Danicah Therese said it was a beautiful place. It is best to get a plunge because of the crystal clear water and it is cold. It will wipe away your difficulty of getting there.

Not many people go there now or even before, but it's always best and safe to enjoy an outdoor adventure.

Dhels Jaster said the first time is always exciting.

"We all enjoyed the place and of course the company of family and friends. Waterfalls are refreshing. It is rare. It is fun," he said.
