Unity forum for power industry consumers set

ELECTRIC consumers in Bacolod City and other areas covered by Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) is holding a "Unity Forum for Consumers in the Power Industry (UFC-PI)" at the Negros Press Club Building in Bacolod City Thursday, August 19.

The three organizations composed of Power Watch Negros, Alliance of Concerned Transport in Occidental Negros, Consumers Alliance for Reforms along with other consumer groups in cities of Talisay, Silay and Bago, and towns of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto have consolidated themselves to launch the Power Advocates Consumers Council (PACC).

Wennie Sancho, secretary general of Power Watch Negros, said the council is an alliance that will promote the solidarity and empowerment of all member-consumers of Ceneco.

He said the PACC will present its position paper to articulate their rising tide of discontent against some members of the Board and top officials of the cooperative whom they believed not protecting the rights of the MCO's whom they had sworn to serve.

The groups will pass a resolution to express their vehement opposition against the holding of the 43rd Annual General Membership Assembly as proposed by the management.

Also, they are planning to conduct a signature campaign to postpone the assembly due to the pandemic.
