PUBLIC utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and conductors who will be caught not wearing air purifiers will be issued a temporary operators permit (TOP) or traffic citation ticket starting August 25, 2021.
Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia said TOPs will be issued by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Central Visayas as part of the enforcement of Executive Order 35-B, which outlined the regulations for PUVs.
A citation ticket is a traffic violation receipt issued by traffic law enforcers to a person violating traffic rules or regulations.
Garcia said the Province will give vitamins and wearable air purifiers to compliant drivers and conductors.
"Kahibaw man sad ko nga naningkamot gyud ang atong mga bus and minibus operators, that's why ato ganing gi-move ang deadline to the 25th," she said during her inspection of checkpoints set up in 21 local government units in Cebu Wednesday, August 18.
Earlier, Garcia announced that the Provincial Government will provide a one-month supply of vitamin C with zinc, vitamin B complex and vitamin D-3 with calcium to all PUV drivers and conductors.
She said Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) personnel will also check the thermal scanner and footbath of PUVs, among others.
Meanwhile, CPPO Director Engelbert Soriano said 216 wearable purifiers will be distributed in all police checkpoints for cops who will conduct the inspection for PUVs.
These police personnel, he said, must wear the air purifiers. (MVE)
