Over P270,000 shabu seized in Bacolod

AN ESTIMATED P272,000 worth of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride was seized in a drug bust by operatives of Police Station 7 in Alijis Road, Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City Wednesday evening, August 18, 2021.

The operation also led to the arrest of Joel Alma, 33, and Matts Ericson Pastrana, 30, both residents of Barangay 6, Victorias City.

Police Captain Elmer Bonilla, chief of Police Station 7, said the suspects were arrested after they sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover around 7:10 p.m.

Police recovered from the suspects’ possession eight sachets of shabu weighing 40 grams, the P1,000 marked money, coin purse, P450 cash, and motorcycle.

Bonilla said the suspects were under surveillance for almost a month before their arrest.

The suspects were detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 7.

They are facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old curfew violator was also arrested by personnel of Police Station 8 at NHA Village, Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City after the recovery of illegal drugs Thursday morning.

Police identified the suspect as Alejandro Medel, 25, of Barangay Singcang-Airport.

Police Major Sherlock Gabana, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office, said personnel of Police Station 8 were implementing the curfew ordinance when they saw the suspect along NHA Village around 3:30 a.m.

When he was searched, police recovered from Medel’s possession a sachet of shabu weighing 0.19 grams with an estimated market value of P500, coin purse, and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 8.

He will be charged for violation of RA 9165.
