Pangan: We empathize with them

WE EMPATHIZE with our brethren in the National Capital Region as they are experiencing a hard lockdown or enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

They had previously endured strict lockdowns: GCQ with heightened restrictions and enhanced community quarantine. Why is this so? Aside from being densely populated, people from neighboring towns and cities come to the NCR for various reasons, livelihood mainly, and this migration fuels the deadly transmission of the disease.

One can just imagine the difficulty of losing a job and means of livelihood. No wonder, even jeepney drivers had to beg on the streets just to tide them over for the day

It's good the National Government had prepared the cash assistance or ayuda program for these suffering residents. They need this assistance so badly; the National Government authorities must not delay it.

Add to their misery are the perennial floods, inundating most roads in Metro Manila when it rains heavily. And to think the MMDA is at the forefront of declogging, even desilting, rivers and water channels to avoid these floods. It had to acquire several pumping stations to drain into the rivers and Manila Bay and yet, flooding still persists!

Over at the Clark Development Corporation, officials therein are pleading that bikers and visitors keep the surroundings clean and orderly.

It has been observed that garbage had been strewn in all places despite the presence of trash bins for this purpose.

It is, therefore, incumbent upon these bikers and visitors to keep the place clean which after all serves them best through the good infrastructure in the Zone. It really takes personal discipline to keep CDC clean.

I'd like to congratulate Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo C. Garbo and his team of officials for the impressive showing of the city in terms of revenues and accomplishments.

It seems Mayor Cris is living up to his esteemed dream of making Mabalacat City progressive and financially stable and strong.

If things go Mayor Cris' way, there is no doubt he will keep his post for the second term and beyond!
