THE Cebu Provincial Government has started distributing around P25.5 million worth of equipment, medicines and other supplies to its district, provincial hospitals and temporary treatment centers.

Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said the recent allocation of equipment, medicines and other supplies to Cebu’s 16 provincial and district hospitals, and Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facilities (TTMFs), was aimed at helping these facilities address the Covid-19 surge being experienced in the Province.

A total of 380 oxygen tanks, 16,000 Azithromycin tablets, 880 dexamethasone ampules, 860 Remdesevir ampules and 78 boxes of antigen test kits and 50 Tocilizumab ampules were distributed to the 16 hospitals and TTMFs.

Garcia said they started delivering these equipment, medicines and other supplies in the beginning of August.

Garcia said the Provincial Health Office (PHO) will monitor the medicine consumption of the Province’s hospitals and TTMFs to ensure their continuous supply.

“All of our district and provincial hospitals are supplied with Remdesevir and Tocilizumab and other anti-viral medicines. We are also monitoring their consumption as well,” Garcia said in a mix of English and Cebuano.

Ventilators

The PHO also distributed two ventilators in each of the four provincial hospitals in Balamban, Bogo City, Carcar City and Danao City. One ventilator was given to the Minglanilla District Hospital.

Eight highflow nasal cannula machines were given to the Cebu Provincial Hospitals in the cities of Danao and Carcar. Seven were given to the provincial hospitals in Balamban and Bogo City. Four were given to the district hospitals in Minglanilla, and in the islands of Bantayan and Camotes.

As for the ventilators that were donated by private entities to the Cebu Provincial Government, they have been distributed to Level 1 provincial hospitals that are equipped with specialists who can operate these medical equipment.

These Level 1 provincial hospitals are located in Balamban and the cities of Bogo, Carcar and Danao.

Aside from hospitals, the Province also allocated funds for the salaries of one doctor and either two nursing aides or two midwives that the local government units will hire to man their TTMFs. (MVE)
