THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Leyte and the Tacloban City Public Employment Service Office (Peso) have kicked off this year’s implementation of JobStart Philippines Program with the signing of employer’s memorandum of agreement in Tacloban.

“We would like to acknowledge and thank our employers who responded to our call of assisting our youth beneficiaries through the Jobstart program especially now that we are in a pandemic,” said Norman Uyvico, head of DOLE-Leyte.

He acknowledged McCarol Ventures/McDonalds Tacloban, Mang Inasal, Pinutos and Chix Delight, Jollibee and Greenwich, and Hotel de Fides for signing the said memorandum

The employment facilitation program will benefit some 100 youths from the city.

Uyvico also lauded the leadership of regional labor director Henry John Jalbuena, and the city’s Peso “for being an active Jobstart implementer ever since its first implementation in 2018.”

The JobStart Program aims to enhance employability of youth by reducing their job-search period and increasing their employability through life skills and technical skills training, paid internships and full-cycle employment facilitation services.

The program, funded by the Government of Canada with technical support from the Asian Development Bank, is also designed to increase the capacity of Peso in providing full-cycle employment facilitation services. (SunStar Philippines)
