ILOILO City has recorded 11 more Delta variant cases of Covid-19 in a sequence result dated August 21, 2021, sent by the Philippine Genome Center (PGC) Monday August 23.

The city previously recorded four Delta cases, bringing the total to 15. There were also two Alpha and three Beta cases reported in the metro. All of these variants were considered highly contagious.

“We might have to impose quarantine passes again due to the number of confirmed Delta, Alpha, Beta and P.3 cases. The Covid team will once again look into this again and will make the necessary decisions,” Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said.

City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit confirmed all cases have already recovered but will have to be subjected again to swab test.

Of the 11, three were from La Paz; three from Mandurriao; two from Jaro; and three from Molo.

The samples were sent to PGC for genome sequencing on August 6. (SunStar Philippines)
