Over 4.2M NCR residents fully vaccinated

MORE than 4.2 million individuals in the National Capital Region (NCR) have been fully vaccinated, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Benhur Abalos said on Monday, August 23, 2021.

As of August 22, he said 4,262,546 individuals in the NCR have been fully vaccinated while 7,350,611 have received their first dose.

The fully vaccinated persons comprise 43.5 percent of the eligible population in NCR while those who received the first dose constituted or 75 percent of the eligible population.

Metro Manila local government units are targeting to inoculate 9.8 million individuals, or 70 percent of the region’s total population.

“Baka by the end of the month maabot or sana maabot na natin na 50 percent of our eligible population are vaccinated. 'Pag na-achieve na natin ito meron na tayong population protection,” Abalos said in a virtual press conference.

He said the local government units of San Juan and Mandaluyong accept non-resident vaccinees provided they will register through their online platform.

Nationwide, a total of 13,130,485 individuals have been fully vaccinated while 17,258,675 had their first dose.

From February to August, the Philippines received a total of 48,522,890 Covid-19 vaccine doses from various manufacturers. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo / SunStar Philippines)
