THE Lapu-Lapu City Government is preparing for its drive-through vaccination at the Liberty Shrine in Brgy. Mactan.
Vaccination Operations Center deputy officer James Sayson told SunStar Cebu that they chose the venue as it is big enough for vehicles to pass through.
Sayson said the site will prioritize tricycle and public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers.
All they have to do is register their tricycles and PUJs with the government to be able to avail themselves of the drive-through vaccination. Walk-ins will not be accommodated.
Private individuals who wish to be vaccinated at this venue should also register their vehicles.
This initiative was created to help those who do not have time to go to vaccination centers due to their jobs.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Ahong Chan said the vaccination will be done from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. to also cater to those who have different work hours.
Meanwhile, about 20 residents in Cebu City have benefited from the house-to-house vaccination initiative of the City Government.
While the City has initiated more ways to ramp up its Covid-19 vaccination, there are still many registered residents who are still waiting for their turn to be vaccinated.
The City first conducted its house-to-house vaccination on Aug. 6, 2021 at a retirement home in Brgy. San Jose Jose, and in two households.
Cebu City Health Department (CHD) officer-in-charge Jeffrey Ibones said the second round of house-to-house vaccination was done on Aug. 20.
He said the house-to-house vaccination is conducted only upon the request of the barangays, and that the number of individuals willing to be vaccinated must correspond to the doses in each vial to avoid any wastage.
Ibones reminded the public that only the bedridden and those who cannot travel to vaccination sites like persons with disability (PWDs) will be vaccinated during the house-to-house visit.
The latest data provided by Cebu City Management Information and Computer Services officer-in-charge Richter Castañares, meanwhile, shows that as of Aug. 23, 514,742 individuals have registered for the city’s vaccination program.
However, the data also shows that the City Government has inoculated 175,522 individuals for the first dose, and 118,640 individuals for the second.
With this, more than 200,000 registered individuals are still awaiting their schedule.
Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama, convener of the City’s Covid-19 vaccination program, said this may be due to inaccurate details placed by the registrant on the registration form, or due to some issues with the system.
Rama said this is being addressed now and that the City personnel have been reviewing the masterlist. (GCM, JJL / CCP)
