CANDABA -- Former mayor Danilo Baylon has come to the aid of thousands of flood victims in five towns in the fourth district of Pampanga.

Baylon, who is the chairman of Dayway Processing Corporation, one of the biggest chicken, feeds and eggs processing businesses in the country, has already visited 44 flooded barangays in the towns of Masantol, Macabebe, San Simon, Sto. Tomas and Minalin.

Baylon, together with his wife Apo Aniway and Board Member Nelson Calara, has already distributed food packs consisting of rice, eggs and chickens to more than 30,000 individuals in the said flood-affected towns that are still under a State of Calamity.

"Minarapat natin tulungan ang mga kababayan natin sa fourth district na lubhang naapektuhan ng pagbaha, na hangang ngayon ang karamihan sa kanilang mga tahanan ay naka lubog parin sa tubig baha at lalu pang pinalala ng pandemya na kung saan ang kanilang mga hanapbuhay at pinagkakakitaan ay labis na naapektuhan ," Baylon said.

(We must help our fellowmen in the 4th district who were severely affected by the floods, whose homes are still submerged in floodwaters, and whose quality of life is further exacerbated by the pandemic that severely affected their sources of income.)

The former Candaba Mayor said that he knows how it feels to be “poor” since he also came from a poor family. Nevertheless, this did not stop him from carving a bright future by hard work, dedication and following the teachings of God, he said.

"Kahit ano man pagsubok ang atin hinaharap sa araw araw na buhay natin, ay kakayanin natin ito, basta manalangin at magtiwala tayo sa ating Ama, hindi niya tayo papabayaan," Baylon said.

(No matter what trials we face in our daily lives, we can handle them, as long as we pray and trust in our Father, for he will not forsake us.)

Baylon also urged his fellow businessmen to do their share in helping their communities, especially those affected by this pandemic and natural calamities.

"Lahat ng yaman at paaari na meron tayo ay galing sa ating Ama kaya nararapat lamang na ibalik natin ito sa pamamagitan ng pagtulong sa atin kapwa," Baylon said.

(All the wealth and possessions we have come from our Father so we should only give them back by helping each other.)

Calara, who is a close friend with Baylon for many years, said that the former mayor and his wife were not only giving much-needed food but were also spreading the good word of God.

"Likas talaga ang pagtulong ng mag asawang Mayor Baylon at Apo Aniway, dahil sa labis na grasya na ibinigay sa kanila ng Panginoon, ay ipinamamahagi nila ito sa atin mga kababayan lalu na dito sa kuwatro destrito ng Pampanga," Calara said.

(The help of former Mayor Baylon and his wife and Apo Aniway is natural. Because of the great grace given to them by the Lord, they distribute it to our countrymen, especially here in the fourth district of Pampanga.)

Baylon has also donated thousands of food packs to other Pampanga towns, namely Floridablanca, Guagua, Sta. Rita, Sasmuan, Arayat, Sta. Ana and Mabalacat City.

Danway Food Processing Corporation through Danway Missionaries has given food donations to single parents, persons with disabilities, senior citizens and indigent families and individuals in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao for more than a decade. (Chris Navarro)
