TWO new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) Delta variant cases have been detected in Bacolod City Monday, August 23, 2021, an official said.

City Administrator Em Ang, executive director of Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF), said Monday two more individuals in Bacolod City tested positive for the Covid-19 Delta variant based on the report from the Philippine Genome Center (PGC).

These include a six-month-old boy, a resident of Barangay Bata, and the 45-year-old man, a resident of Barangay Villamonte.

Ang said both patients have already completed their isolation.

The City Government also ordered localized containment measures or surgical lockdown of the residential area of Barangays Bata and Villamonte, where the two patients and their families reside.

Bacolod City earlier recorded four Delta variant cases that include a three-year-old boy, a 63-year-old woman, both residents of Barangay Mansilingan; a 71-year-old male resident of Barangay Banago; and the 32-year-old pregnant woman from Barangay Sum-ag. All of them were already out of isolation.

Aside from Delta variant cases, Bacolod City also earlier recorded 10 Covid-19 Theta variant cases, a variant of interest.

In July, the Department of Health-Western Visayas sent a total of 166 samples to the PGC for confirmation whether there are positive for the Delta variant.

As of August 22, 2021, Bacolod City had a total of 16, 259 Covid-19 cases. Of the number, 15, 040 patients already recovered, 839 active cases with 377 deaths.
