A NEGRENSE whose roots are from E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental has joined the prestigious Miss Universe Philippines competition and currently landed at the top 50.

Miss Angela Nikki De Grano, 28, a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management at La Consolacion College Bacolod City, was among the more than 400 applicants of the world-renowned beauty and brain pageant.

She was among the top 100 candidates who made it to the top 75 and is currently at the top 50.

Four Negrenses first joined but only two of them -- one is representing the City of Bacolod -- stayed in the loop.

Angela was able to hurdle the challenges that include a headshot, video introduction, casting video challenge, and runway or Pasarela walk, a Latin word for pageant walk.

Her mother, Connie, shared that when she was still inside her womb, she began instilling in her consciousness that she is her "Miss Universe."

"I remember talking to her often while inside my womb about my dream of her becoming part of the Miss Universe. And fortunately, it is coming to fruition. I repeatedly greeted her -- how's my Miss Universe? I did not realize that I have empowered those words now," she said.

Angela is the second of the three children she had who prevails to be a versatile and beautiful person inside out.

While she entered the Miss Universe pageant, she works as a senior relationship manager of a Singapore-based company and was proud to represent the Overseas Filipino Workers.

She learned about the Miss Universe competition online and applied independently.

This is the first time that the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 organizers relaxed the height requirement.

She stands 5'3", a typical Filipino petite with a brown complexion.

She can dance, sing, and excels academically.

Things became favorable to her and she is delighted about it as it admiringly progresses, her mother shares.

The beauty pageant that she first joined was in the search for Miss LCC Bacolod and luckily, she bagged the crown in 2013.

The next is the Miss Universe Philippines pageant and she prepares herself well for the upcoming pageant proper set on September 25 in Manila.

Her glam (glamour) team is composed of local artists who volunteered to help her make it to the top.

She recently had her photoshoot sessions at the Raphaella Mill, Campuestohan Highland Resort in Barangay Cabatangan, Talisay City.

Angela wishes everyone well and she is seeking every Negrense's support in her journey to the Miss Universe Philippines.

She also urged everyone to download the Miss Universe Philippines App on mobile phones as a venue to support her in her goal to land among the top 30 candidates.

See the details when you download the App.

She hopes to bring home the crown with everyone's full support. She vowed to do her best to earn the prestigious crown in the name of her beloved country and province of Negros Occidental.
