Guagua barangays in granular lockdown

THREE areas of Barangay Natividad in Guagua town have been placed under a seven-day granular lockdown due to rising Covid-19 cases, with the village registering 37 active access of the total 509 infections in the town.

Purok 1 and 2 and Riverside of Barangay Natividad have been placed under strict quarantine in a bid to stem the rise of infections.

Mayor Dante Torres personally met with barangay officials Wednesday afternoon, August 25, to discuss the other parameters of the lockdown.

Torres said that only essential work and activities will be allowed, while people from outside the said areas would not be allowed unless in emergency cases.

Guagua is now under a state of calamity after the Municipal Government noted the exponential rise in the number of Covid-19 cases and the increasing number of fatalities due to the disease.

On August 23, the Municipal Council of Guagua unanimously passed Resolution 82-2021, which was backed by Torres' Executive Order 27-S-2021, directing urgent measures to be taken to combat the virus.

Aside from the 505 active cases, the town had also registered a total of 120 coronavirus-related deaths.

Torres said the rise in infections has been detected by the town’s massive testing of recent close contacts, as well as random tests of local residents.

Just before the declaration of the state of calamity, several areas of the Betis District have been placed under quarantine due to the spike in local transmissions.
