VACCINATION sites in Talisay City have started to accept walk-ins to entice more residents to get themselves vaccinated against the Covid-19.

Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas Jr. said after they were able to vaccinate those who had formally registered on the City’s online vaccination portal, he is now inviting those who have not registered to visit their four vaccination sites to get themselves jabbed.

Gullas said he and the City Health and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) decided to allow walk-ins despite fears that this could lead to mass gatherings in their vaccination sites.

Gullas said walk-ins will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. only after vaccinators have vaccinated those who have registered.

Talisay City’s vaccination sites are at the multipurpose gym in Barangay Lagtang, Gaisano SRP in Barangay San Roque, South Town Center in Barangay Bulacao, and Starmall in Barangay Lawaan 1.

“I suggest taking this chance as it will be the best thing that you can do to protect yourself from Covid-19. Dili lang unta ta magduha-duha. (Let’s not hesitate.) Vaccines are safe,” Gullas said.

As of Aug. 23, Talisay City reported that a total of 77,226 individuals had received their first dose while 22,022 had gotten their two shots.

With a total of 140,827 persons officially registered for vaccination in Talisay, around 41,579 persons have yet to get their shots.

Night vaccination

In Mandaue City, the Vaccination Operations Center said the “Tara Shots a Gabii : Mandaue City Night Vaccination” will officially open on Sept. 3, 2021 following a dry run conducted last Aug. 20.

Due to the lack of medical personnel, the night vaccination will only be held every Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. for now.

Ligaya Dargantes, VOC deputy chief said more personnel will be hired for the City’s special vaccination strategies which include night vaccination, mobile vaccination clinic, and house-to-house vaccination for bedridden patients.

The VOC also welcomes volunteers, she said.

Mandaue’s night vaccination is largely intended for eligible individuals who find it hard to schedule vaccination during the day due to their work. (KFD)
