5 nabbed in separate anti-drug operation in Eastern Visayas

AUTHORITIES in Eastern Visayas arrested five suspected drug personalities in separate buy-bust in the region from August 23 to 26, 2021.

Jeric Dave Mandilag, a newly identified drug personality, was nabbed in Tacloban City after he allegedly sold a sachet believed to be containing suspected shabu on Thursday, August 26.

He also yielded three other sachets of suspected shabu during the arrest.

The illegal drugs evidence weighed 0.5 gram with a street value of P3,500, according to the police.

In Carigara, Leyte, joint operatives arrested Christopher Makabenta for alleged illegal drug activities on August 25.

On August 24, police and anti-narcotics agents arrested an 18-year-old construction worker in Catarman, Northern Samar.

The suspect, who is identified as street-level individual, allegedly sold three sachets containing dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.

In Maasin City, authorities apprehended Rey Leonard Bantug after he allegedly sold six sachets believed to be containing shabu on August 23.

Police also confiscated one piece suspected dried marijuana wrapped in a brown paper, together with the bust money, during the operation.

Another suspect, Vicente Tomenio, was busted by joint operatives from local police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and military intelligence on August 23 in San Policarpo, Eastern Samar.

Seized from the suspect was a small heated sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, while confiscated from his possession were two sachets believed to be containing shabu.

The suspects will be facing charges for violation of sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Philippines)
