SAN Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo and Silay City Mayor Mark Andrew Golez formally endorsed the reelection bid of the tandem of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer in the May 9, 2022 elections.
Gustilo said on September 10, the whole officials of San Carlos City will come up with an official endorsement for the Lacson-Ferrer tandem during the meeting of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC).
"I believe Calatrava, Escalante, Toboso, Don Salvador Benedicto and Escalante City that belong to the first district will also be endorsing the tandem. They are performing well and they manage the province well. We belong to Love-Negros and there is a coalition between Love-Negros and Unega and we agreed that we come up with a common candidate," Gustilo said.
Gustilo said they will also support the reelection bid of Board Member Rommel Debulgado and Araceli Somosa for the first district.
On the part of Golez, he also assured of the backing of Asenso Silay Team for the Lacson-Ferrer tandem.
"In the first place, I belong to Love-Negros and since there is a coalition between Love-Negros and Unega, there is no reason why I should not endorse the tandem. I have a very good relationship with Lacson," Golez said.
He said that in 2016 and 2019, Lacson has been there to endorse him and that he owes him a lot.
"Besides, both Lacson and Ferrer are my Ninongs during my church wedding," Golez said.
Golez said his team will also support the reelection bid of Third District Representative Jose Francisco "Kiko" Benitez.
Ferrer earlier said that the Lacson-Ferrer tandem has been assured of support by both and Love-Negros and Unega and that they have also been assured that no one from both parties will run against them in the coming election.
