A FOOD package seller whose confrontation with a customer went viral on Facebook last July received text messages that stated she would become a gun-for-hire group’s next victim.
The message sender, who claimed to be the leader of a gun-for-hire group in Cebu, said they had killed broadcaster Rey Cortes and lawyer Rex Fernandez.
On her Facebook post on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, Marjorie Abastas (Marjorie Alison on Facebook) showed three consecutive text messages sent by someone named Noli Mahinay who wanted to talk to her.
According to Mahinay, Alison was the third person on their target list this year.
“This is Noli Mahinay, leader of a gunman-for-hire group in Cebu. I would just like to inform you, Ma’am, that you are on our list,” the text message in Cebuano read.
Mahinay claimed his group shot Cortes outside radio station dyRB in July and Fernandez who died in an ambush on Aug. 26 in Brgy. Banawa, Cebu City.
They wanted to talk to Alison about this.
“My warning to you, Marjorie Alison, is also what I warned the people I told you about and whom I killed. But they did not believe my warning so they couldn’t blame me,” the text message in Cebuano read.
Abastas has not yet responded to any communication from Superbalita Cebu that wanted to know if she had sought help from the police.
Her Facebook post has garnered 2,200 reactions and 1,200 shares.
The viral Facebook Live video Abastas was in showed her confrontation with customer Maria Amy Hofileña over the customer’s non-payment of the balance for her food order. Their dispute was resolved in Brgy. Sto. Niño, Cebu City. (REV)
