Murcia mayor also endorses Lacson-Ferrer tandem

THE re-election bids of Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer for their respective positions in next year's elections got a further boost Tuesday, August 31, as Murcia Mayor Victor Gerardo Rojas also expressed his full support for their candidacies.

"With Governor Lacson and Vice Governor Ferrer at the helm, our Provincial Government has delivered numerous government programs and services for Murcia. Our town has always been a priority of the Lacson-Ferrer administration. Thus, I and all Murcia officials want to reciprocate their support by helping ensure their victory in next year's elections," said Rojas.

"Among other programs and services delivered to Murcia, the provincial government has provided machineries, equipment, livelihood projects and, most recently, the construction of an artificial insemination center for our farmers, contributed P3 million for the renovation of our public plaza, and donated sacks of rice for our indigent residents," he said.

Rojas is also running for re-election next year under the local party Love Negros headed by Lacson.

He credited his major projects in Murcia, such as the recent construction of the Legislative Building, the MDRRMO Command Center, Senior Citizens Building with Tourism Office and library, plaza renovation, public market renovation, procurement of lots for public cemetery and sanitary landfill, purchase of ambulances and service vehicles, among others, to the harmonious relationship of Murcia with the provincial government, the Office of Cong. Kiko Benitez and other government agencies.

"We will also campaign whole-heartedly for the re-election of Cong. Francisco ‘Kiko’ Benitez as representative of the Third Legislative District of Negros Occidental, because he has also been hugely instrumental in delivering basic programs and services to the people of Murcia," Rojas said.

The mayor said that Benitez facilitated the opening of the Central Philippine State University (CPSU) Murcia Extension Classes, which is set to start classes on September 20.

The CPSU extension classes provide an opportunity for Murciahanon students to avail themselves of free quality tertiary education right there at the town itself. (PR)
