EIGHT barangay captains in Bacolod City have fallen victims to pranksters who ordered food for them without them knowing on Monday, August 30.

Councilor Lady Gles Pallen, president of Liga ng mga Barangay, said Tuesday, August 31, that she was one of the victims and that she was surprised when their village watchman informed her around 8 p.m. that a food delivery rider on a bicycle was looking for her at the Barangay Hall. A bucket of chicken worth P506 was delivered to her.

Other victims include the village chieftains of Barangays Pta. Taytay -- Leah Palma; Singcang-Airport -- Rosinie Distrito; Montevista -- Glo-Ann Tambasen; Pahanocoy -- Yolanda Noble; Sum-ag -- Rodney Carmona; Bata -- Lito Abaring; and 35 -- Ruben James Miranda.

Pallen said most of them received the same orders, chicken and pizza, with the same amount, and all were delivered to the barangay halls.

"We did not make an order, but we sympathized with the riders and most of us decided to pay them. They are only doing their job," she said.

She added that they already reported the incident to the Bacolod City Police Office for proper investigation.

Pallen noted that the person, who ordered the foods, was using the same cellular phone number. They tried to contact it, but no one was answering.

Pallen said they believed that only one person was behind the prank orders, and he or she might be a hacker.

"We are in the pandemic, but still there are some persons who are victimizing the food delivery riders. Instead of supporting and helping one another, we create a problem so we are hopeful to stop this activity," she said.

She added they cannot conclude yet if it had something to do with politics.
