THE traffic enforcer who was caught in a viral video accepting a bribe or “kotong” will be terminated.
Hours after the video made rounds on social media on Tuesday night, Aug. 31, 2021, Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella posted on his Facebook page, instructing the Human Resource and Development Office (HRDO) to terminate the service of the traffic enforcer.
Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) spokesperson Paul Gotiong, in an interview, said the traffic enforcer is waiting for his termination papers and he no longer reported to work on Sept. 1.
Gotiong said the traffic enforcer denied the allegation.

But Gotiong said the video was enough proof to terminate the service of the traffic enforcer, whose name was withheld by Gotiong.
He said the driver also committed a violation, but it could not be made an excuse.
The CCTO also encouraged the owner of the video or the driver to file a formal complaint in their office.
Also on Labella’s Facebook page, the driver was asked to file a complaint before the City Legal Office for an investigation.
“The video was clear proof for us, but we wanted the original poster to surface and file a formal complaint in our office because we also want to ask for the full video,” Gotiong said. (JJL)
