CEBU City received the majority, or 11,700, of the 21,060 additional Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine doses that arrived last week and were only distributed on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021.

Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, spokesperson of Visayas Covid-19 Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC), said 18 trays of Pfizer were distributed to six local government units (LGUs) in

Metro Cebu.

Aside from Cebu City, the LGUs of Mandaue City, Talisay City and Cordova, were allocated 2,340 doses each, while Minglanilla and Consolacion were given 1,170 doses each.

Loreche said in a text message to SunStar Cebu that she received a report about a direct arrival of Pfizer vaccines in Cebu on Tuesday, Sept. 1, but the information was yet to be verified.

Loreche said Central Visayas is also set to receive 172,800 doses of Sinopharm and additional doses of Sinovac vaccine in the coming days.

Of the 172,800 Sinopharm doses expected to arrive in the region, Metro Cebu LGUs are set to receive a total of 109,160 doses.

“Parami ng parami ang bakuna at wala ng dahilan na hindi magpabakuna (More and more vaccines are coming, and there is no reason not to get vaccinated),” she said.

Central Visayas has received a total of 2,792,100 doses of Covid-19 vaccines.

As of Aug. 31, 1,951,682 doses had been administered—1,129,461 doses for the first dose, while 822,221 doses were administered for the second dose or single dose for a single-dose vaccine like Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen Covid-19 vaccine. (WBS)
