“IT'S alarming and it’s a big challenge to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).”

This was stressed by Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran Wednesday, September 1, 2021, after a headless body and the severed head of a man were found in separate areas in Bacolod City on Tuesday evening, while a policeman was killed by unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants in the city on Sunday.

Familiaran said it is a big challenge to the police, especially to the BCPO to solve the series of crimes committed around the city and to give justice to the family of the victims.

“Policemen should do their part to solve the killings so that we will have peace of mind,” he said.

On Tuesday evening, a headless body of an unidentified man was dumped along Rosario Street, Barangay 38, Bacolod City, and his severed head was also found in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, in the city.

On August 29, Staff Sergeant Joseph Nepomuceno, 37, a member of City Drug Enforcement Unit, and resident of Barangay 14, Bacolod City, was shot to death by two unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants on Rosario Street in Barangay 38.

Philippine National Police Chief General Guillermo Eleazar earlier ordered BCPO and Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas to look into the killing of Nepomuceno.

Familiran said Bacolod City had several shooting incidents that remained unsolved with no identification of the suspects.

He said BCPO should intensify their visibility patrol along with the help of the village watchmen and the installation of a security camera to preempt the possible operation of the lawless elements.

“We also need the cooperation of the witnesses to solve the killings in the city,” he added.

For his part, Colonel Manuel Placido, director of BCPO, said they are still conducting further investigation to solve the killings in the city.

“ We will not speculate, we will do our job to give justice to the family of the victims,” he said.

Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, director of PRO-Western Visayas, also ordered the creation of the Special Investigation Task Force for the murder of Nepomuceno.
