Medical frontliners are heroes: shrine curator

CAPAS, TARLAC -- An official of the Capas National Shrine said that medical frontliners are the modern day heroes and deserve to be honored.

Engineer Darwin Campo, curator of the Capas National Srine, issued the statement during the celebration of National Heroes Day on Monday.

"For this National Heroes Day, we also honor our medical frontliners who relentlessly provide their service to the Filipino people as the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic continues," Campo said.

The sacrifices of the healthcare workers today remind us of the selfless and brave acts of World War II heroes to safeguard the welfare of their countrymen, according to the shrine curator.

"As we commemorate Filipino heroes and war veterans who fought for the country's independence, let us also appreciate the efforts of our frontliners, our modern day heroes," Campo said.

The sacrifices of the frontliners may serve as inspiration in the observance of health protocols, he added.

"Inspired by their sacrifices, let us continuously abide with health protocols and do our part in ensuring national peace and order for the betterment of our nation," Campo said.

During the event, personnel of the Philippine Air Force 5055th Maintenance Squadron stationed in Clark Air Base conducted a flag raising ceremony in front of the shrine.
