MAYOR Danilo Diamante of Municipality of Tuburan has lifted Executive Order No. 13 that contains additional health and safety protocols, and that was implemented from Aug. 21 to 31.

Tuburan is under general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions.

Some of the restrictions included religious activities. In Tuburan, 30 to 50 percent of church capacity is allowed again starting on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Diamante told SunStar Cebu that the restrictions implemented on Aug. 21-31 were effective as Covid-19 cases and deaths have started to decrease. As of Sept. 2, Tuburan logged a total of 37 active cases.

He thanked all the barangay officials, barangay health workers (BHW) and rural health unit (RHU) personnel for helping him in implementing the stricter health standards from Aug. 21 to 31.

“So far it has gone down a bit, unlike before when we have deaths almost every day. So now, it’s not that bad compared to the first and second week of August,” Diamante said.

Diamante said the RHU personnel, barangay captains and BHWs continue to implement home quarantine to residents with flu-like symptoms, cough and colds for 10 days. They are provided with food, vitamins and medicines, and monitored by BHWs.

Meanwhile, Diamante confirmed that his four family members and a driver finished their home quarantine last Aug. 31 after testing positive of Covid-19, exactly one year when his family, including Mayor Diamante, finished their quarantine after being tested positive of the virus.

Diamante confirmed that the vaccine works for his family members who were all vaccinated. The four members of the Diamante household were all asymptomatic after being infected with Covid-19 for the second time.

Diamante highly encouraged his constituents to get vaccinated when vaccine supplies are available in town to prevent severe Covid-19 infections.

Diamante said that he has coordinated with the Catholic church in the town to help in advising the residents to continue observing health and safety protocols.

He is confident of the cooperation of the priests who continue to support the programs of the Municipal Government .

Meanwhile, the Municipality of Sogod continues to implement the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine with heightened restrictions from Aug. 29 to Sept. 12, 2021. (MVE)
