Negros Occidental guv thanks mayors for reaffirmation of support

NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson expressed appreciation for the reaffirmation of support of all incumbent mayors in the province for his reelection bid with Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer.

"We have been trying to address the requests of the local government units for the needs of the Negrenses that's why we are very close to them," Lacson said.

"We are thankful for the mayors' trust and confidence and it motivates us to do better in our next term," Lacson, who will seek reelection for his second term, said.

The latest to reaffirm support for Lacson and Ferrer Thursday, September 2, 2021, is Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares, who is also a member of Love-Negros.

Lizares said he sees a major development in the city with the realization of the transfer of the new Provincial Capitol building in a 200-hectare property of the province in Talisay City.

"There are more developments coming. These will bring a major change in Talisay City," Lizares said without elaborating yet.

Lizares also re-affirmed support for Third District Rep. Jose Francisco "Kiko" Benitez.

Meanwhile, Lizares said he already has a complete line-up for the coming election next year and that all incumbent City Councilors are joining him except for his Vice Mayor who is former City Councilor Nicholai Jalandoni.

He said incumbent Vice Mayor Samuel Siote, who is a member of United Negros Alliance (Unega), will be running against him for mayor with former mayor Eric Saratan as running mate.

When asked for comment, Siote said it is the people that wanted him to run and that he has to make an announcement later.

Lizares said he has accomplished major projects for the City and that underway now is the construction of the city's new public market, new transport terminal, new legislative building, and new city health building. He considers the project as his legacy in the city.
