10 ex-rebels receive livelihood aid

TEN former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) have received a total of P586,000 livelihood assistance and firearm remuneration from the national government and the local social integration program funded by the provincial government of Northern Samar.

Major Edwin Oloan Jr, force commander of First Northern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company (1st NSPMFC), urged other rebels to return to the folds of the law, saying the government will continue to assist rebel surrenderers.

Aside from the financial aid, the beneficiaries will also avail reintegration programs from the different government agencies and a housing grant from the National Housing Authority under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program.

The beneficiaries also graduated in the Alternative Learning System at Darangpan Center as part of the government assistance.

“These benefits provided by our government will never be given to you by the communist terrorist group so enough with your futile effort efforts to overthrow our government,” Oloan said.

Darangpan Center administrative staff Aliza Limpiado, along with the 1st NSPMFC personnel, distributed the financial grant to the former rebels. (SunStar Philippines)
