TALIWALA ning pandemiya sa coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), ang tuberkulosis kun TB mao gihapon ang nag-unang sakit nga makapatay sa mga Filipino.

Mao kini ang gibutyag sa Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) sa Department of Health (DOH) apan, ang programa ug mga inisyatiba sa TB naapektuhan sa kabalaka sa pandemiya.

Si Dr. Sharon Azenith Laurel, regional medical coordinator sa TB program sa DOH 7, nagkanayon nga anaa gihapon ang stigma nga nagpalibot sa sakit nga TB, nagpabilin gihapon nga hagit hilabi na sa pandemiya.

“That is also one factor why a lot of patients with TB symptoms refuse to go to health centers for screening because they don’t want to be labeled as TB (patients). Another misconception is that TB is a disease of the poor,” sigon niya.

“We don’t get to see many patients coming in seeking consultation for TB now also because they fear Covid,” dugang niya.
