OFFICIALS of Barangay San Miguel in Peñaplata, Island Garden City of Samal assured that the person or persons responsible for beheading four puppies will be apprehended sooner.

After a P15,000 reward was released for those who can identify the suspects, deeper investigation is now being conducted by the barangay and police authorities on the island.

In an interview with Barangay San Miguel Captain Dionn Phillip Heramil, he suspects a group of minors are responsible for the dastardly act.

He added that the suspects might be under the influence of illegal drugs, which is why they are making sure to apprehend them before they try to victimize children next time.

"Gipanegurado namo nga madakpan gyod ang naghimo kay basin unya tawo na iyang ingon-inion mga bata na ilang biktimahon. Sa tan-aw ug panaghap nako grupo ni sa menor de edad nga nakagamit og gidili nga druga," Heramil said in a phone interview Monday, September 6, 2021.

(We will make sure that we will apprehend those responsible because they might victimize persons or worse children next time. In my opinion, a group of minors who are under the influence of illegal drugs did this.)

It was learned that the mother dog bore six puppies and two of these were adopted.

The barangay received information on Saturday that there were puppies that were beheaded.

“Kang Elvie Alejado ning mga itoy kay nakakita siya og iro, nabuntis naa sa ilaha nanganak, tapos namatay ang inahan, ang duha ka anak gipangayo. Kining upat nga nabilin ilang nahukman nga ibutang sa may manggahan kay naay mga balay aron makakaon ug dunay maadtoan ang mga itoy niadtong Huwebes,” the barangay captain added.

(These puppies belonged to Elvie Alejado since she found a dog. This dog bore puppies, but unfortunately, the mother dog died. Two of the puppies were adopted. These four were decided to be left near the mango tree since there were houses there so that somebody could let them eat or shelter them last Thursday.)

Heramil believed that the suspects are still in the area. They are conducting a thorough investigation, especially that the reward has already reached P15,000.

He promised that the identity of those who can point out the suspects will not be revealed for their security.

The incident became trending on social media eliciting anger among dog and pet lovers. (Jeepy P. Compio)
