The tourism industry is at a standstill because travel is not yet on the “menu” for the majority but there is the Expo Dubai 2020 which has been set for Oct. 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, United Arab Emirates. Originally scheduled for October 2020, the World Expo was postponed because of the pandemic. This information was shared to us by marketing communications agency, Grupo Agatep.

Expo 2020 Dubai will be the first World Expo ever hosted in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region. Theme of the Expo is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.” Its aim is to inspire people by showcasing the best examples of collaboration, innovation and cooperation from around the world, through sustainability, mobility and opportunity.

Visitors get the chance to experience all these plus, the opportunity to go to the various thematic and special pavilions to get a glimpse of the future and the innovations that are making a difference in tomorrow’s world.

Official airline of Expo 2020 Dubai is Emirates which has a must-see pavilion where visitors can expect to engage in immersive experiences that will provide a peek into the future of aircraft cabin design as well as technologies that will improve flying performance and fuel economy for a sustainable future. Not to be missed is the opportunity to design an aircraft and take part in interactive exhibits that introduce the principles of flight. Meanwhile, Emirates has come up with so many special offers and perks for Dubai visitors during the World Expo period from October 2021 to March 2022.

Definitely of interest to us Filipinos is the Philippines Pavilion which has been designed to evoke the coral reef. Named “Bangkota” (ancient Tagalog term for a coral reef), the pavilion represents the archipelagic nature of the Philippines and embodies the qualities of the Filipino people which allow them to remain hyper-connected while building vibrant communities in many nations around the world. The Philippines Pavilion promises to highlight the artistry of globally recognized Filipinos with Philippine National Artist for Music Ramon P. Santos on the lead.

As international borders reopen and travel restrictions ease, travelers are encouraged to check the latest government travel restrictions in their country of origin and ensure they meet the travel requirements of their final destination.
