Zamboanga Peninsula marks over 25,000 Covid-19 recoveries

THE Department of Health (DOH) announced that Zamboanga Peninsula registered 25,262 recoveries, representing a recovery rate of 84.82 percent of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) since March 2020.

DOH-Zamboanga Peninsula data released Tuesday, September 7, showed that Zamboanga City has the highest recovery at 11,791. Currently, Zamboanga City is under general community quarantine (GCQ).

Second to Zamboanga City is the province of Zamboanga del Sur with 6,113 recoveries and the other areas are as follows: Zamboanga del Norte, 4,826; Zamboanga Sibugay, 1,775; and Isabela City, 757.

Like Zamboanga City, the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay are under GCQ, while Zamboanga del Sur is under GCQ but with heightened restrictions and Isabela City is under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

In terms of confirmed cases, the DOH-Zamboanga Peninsula data showed that Zamboanga City has the highest number at 12,672, followed by Zamboanga del Sur with 8,168; Zamboanga del Norte, 5,652; Zamboanga Sibugay, 2,500; and Isabela City, 789.

Data showed that Zamboanga Peninsula has a total of 1,165 reported deaths of Covid-19 patients and these are as follows: Zamboanga City, 593; Zamboanga del Sur, 249; Zamboanga del Norte, 202; Zamboanga Sibugay, 100; and Isabela City, 21.

In terms of active cases, the province of Zamboanga del Sur has the highest number at 1,806.

The active cases in the other parts of the region are the following: Zamboanga Sibugay, 623; Zamboanga del Norte, 623; Zamboanga City, 286; and Isabela City, 11.

Dr. Joshua Brillantes, DOH Zamboanga Peninsula director, has encouraged everyone to comply with the minimum health standards to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Brillantes also urged the residents to get inoculated to attain added protection against the virus. (SunStar Zamboanga)
