Mandaue businesses can now operate at 100% capacity

WITH Mandaue City under general community quarantine (GCQ), business establishments in the City can now operate at 100 percent capacity starting Wednesday, September 8, 2021.

Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes on Tuesday, Sept. 7, signed Executive Order (EO) 31 series of 2021, which provides guidelines on the implementation of GCQ in the city.

In his new EO, all the business establishments, persons or activities that were not permitted to operate during enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) are allowed to operate between 50 percent to 100 percent.

But Cortes still encouraged local businesses to allow their employees to work from home or do other flexible work arrangements.

Also, the City will allow business establishments or venues awarded with the Safety Seal certification to add around 10 percent beyond the prescribed on-site capacity.

The Safety Seal certification is awarded to businesses with high compliance to the government-imposed protocols recognized by the Mandaue Investments and Promotions Action Center (MIPAC) and Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO).

For food establishments, those offering “al fresco” or outdoor dining arrangements are allowed to operate at 75 percent while indoor dining is allowed to accommodate 50 percent capacity.

But entertainment and recreational venues such as amusement parks, casinos and outdoor contact sports are still not allowed to operate.

On the other hand, the city will allow 30 percent venue capacity for wakes, inurment, funerals and visits at memorial parks, cemeteries and columbariums.

The City will also allow churches and other religious venues to be able accept around 30 percent capacity of their congregation. (KFD)
