Covid-19 cases in Zamboanga City continue to rise

THE active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases for Zamboanga City is continuously increasing with the additional 57 new cases, 13 new recoveries and new mortality recorded as of Wednesday, September 8, 2021.

Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said Thursday, September 9, the total confirmed Covid-19 cases is now 13,069 with 11,931 recoveries or 91 percent recovery rate and 502 active cases representing four percent of the total cases.

Miravite said the death toll is 636 or five percent of the total cases.

She said 97 percent or 485 of the total active cases come from the community with 14 authorized persons outside residence, while the remaining three include a detainee, person deprived of liberty and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology personnel.

“Community transmission is very high, thus, we need to renew efforts to comply with quarantine guidelines and minimum public health standards to prevent and control transmission of Covid-19,” she said.
