THE Cebu City Government still has a long way to go before it can achieve herd immunity against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as only 20.24 percent out of its target population is fully vaccinated.

Data provided by acting Management Information and Computer Services (Mics) head Richter Castañares on Sept. 9, 2021 show that 141,711 individuals have received their second dose of Covid-19 vaccines, or the ones considered fully vaccinated.

The City is targeting to inoculate around 70 percent out of its total population, or at least 700,000 individuals before the end of the year.

Aside from those who received their full doses, 223,575 individuals have received their first dose.

As of Sept. 8, the City has administered a total of 365,286 doses of Covid-19 vaccines.

The number does not include individuals who have been vaccinated under the Project Balik Buhay (PBB) initiative and those who have availed themselves of Covid-19 inoculations in hospitals.

More people have also registered with the City’s vaccination program.

As of Sept. 8, the registered individuals for the vaccination program through pabakunata.com have reached 542,488.

The City has nine vaccination sites including in the University of Cebu (UC)- Banilad campus, Robinsons Galleria, SM Seaside City, UC Senior High School Private Campus, New Normal Oasis for Adaptation and a Home (Noah) Complex, Ayala Center Cebu, Waterfront Hotel, SM City Cebu, and in Southwestern University.
