'Jolina' leaves over P160,000 damage to Negros Occidental livestock

THE recent onslaught of Typhoon Jolina has left almost P168,000 worth of damage to the livestock industry of Negros Occidental, an official said.

Provincial Veterinarians Renante Decena, in his report to Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson Thursday, September 9, 2021, said the bad weather affected some animal raisers in four barangays in three localities.

These are Barangay Ma-ao in Bago City, Barangays Malvar and Cambarus in Pontevedra town, and Barangay 3 in Himamaylan City.

The damage reports cover the period from September 6 to 7, he said.

The Provincial Disaster Disaster Management Program Division (PDMPD) earlier reported that "Jolina" has caused the evacuation of 17 families from 12 barangays in four towns of Negros Occidental Tuesday, September 7.

The PDMD said the families composed of 318 individuals are from the towns of La Castellana, Pontevedra, Isabela and Don Salvador Benedicto.

In La Castellana, two houses were destroyed and 14 others were damaged and a river wall was damaged.

A house in Hinigaran town was also damaged while several narra trees were uprooted, it added.
