THE Selecta Gold Series commercials may be one of the many visual temptations you have to endure. As the various flavors are given their allotted TV time, viewers sit back and get pleasure from the visual decadence of each creation.
For weight watchers, these commercials are pure evil. Imagine just looking at it yet still feel like you're gaining weight! Luckily, I was able to vent out my craving to one of the men responsible for one of the sinful desserts in the series, the chocolate truffles ice cream.

Chef Roland Laudico was in town recently for a big corporate function at the Cebu International Convention Center. In Manila, he is dubbed "The Rock Star Chef"; and when you think indulgence, his restaurant Bistro Filipino with its updated Filipino cuisine is always part of the list.
During his brief visit here-together with his wife, pastry chef Jackie Laudico-he met and collaborated with Cebu's very own, chef Raki Urbina of Lemon Grass, and Cafe Laguna, and made gastronomic delights for 500 people.
From the airport, they made their way to the nearest watering hole to relax and see a glimpse of Cebu's night life.
What ensued was a great night full of laughs, oohing and aahing over the ice cream commercial notoriety, several rounds billiards (he won quite a few rounds) and beer.
On a separate occasion, rock stars were unleashed on April 16 at the parking area of the Metro Gaisano Mandaue. Sugarfree headlined the recent "Live & Loud 2" with college band and local representative Dance with Me Kris. The PLDT myDSL free concert was well attended by hundreds of rock fans singing along to irreverent original tunes like Hari ng Sablay and Mariposa. The show was hosted by the very funny Kim Idol of Eat Bulaga whose wit and one-liners delivered with finesse made us all laugh uproariously.
The week that passed dealt with matters of food, music and unexpected get-togethers. The experience was mind- and waistline-stretching, and all you can do is shrug and enjoy it.
