ANGELES City Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin Jr. has asked the private sector and non-government organizations (NGOs) to participate in water conservation measures initiated by the City Government with the help of environmental groups.
The mayor is encouraging NGOs and corporate groups to adopt areas at the city's watershed in Barangay Sapangbato for reforestation.
Lazatin said water is life and the people of Angeles including the future generations deserve sufficient supply.
Environmentalists project that water resources in the Metro Clark area will be depleted in the coming few years because of climate change, deep wells, pollution, denuded forests and other factors.
"Having water is a must. These efforts being done at the present time will help conserve water for the use of future generations. Isa lang naman po ang goal natin, ang maseguro ang kapakanan ng ating mga kababayan, habang pinangangalagaan ang kalikasan," Lazatin said.
Employees of the City Planning and Development Office and City Environment and Natural Resources Office on September 10, 2021, conducted a tree-planting activity in Barangay Sapang Bato.
This is part of the City Government’s efforts to reforest the 560-hectare watershed.
The local government started its reforestation of the watershed last year to increase water reserves.
