DOH 7 reports more Covid-19 recoveries than new cases on September 11

THE Department of Health (DOH) 7 recorded more additional Covid-19 recoveries than new Covid-19 cases in Central Visayas as the region’s total active cases went below the 15,000 mark on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021.

The DOH 7 logged 583 additional names to its recovery list, with the majority (206) coming from Cebu Province.

Cebu City came in second with 205 newly reported recoveries; Mandaue City, 136; and Negros Oriental, 36.

Meanwhile, of the 3,129 samples tested for Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, in 14 testing laboratories in Central Visayas, only 468 yielded positive results—Negros Oriental, 149; Cebu Province, 97; Cebu City, 78; Lapu-Lapu City, 57; Bohol, 42; Siquijor, 30; and Mandaue City, 15.

Eight confirmed Covid-19 deaths were also additionally reported on Saturday, all of these were recorded in September.

Six were reported deaths in Cebu and one each in Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City.

The DOH 7 said these reports on Covid-19 deaths may still be subject to change as these claims undergo a “thorough validation” by healthcare offices and health personnel.

As of Saturday, the region’s total active cases was at 14,907.

Meanwhile, as to the utilization of Covid-19 beds in Cebu Province, the DOH 7 data as of Friday, Sept. 10, showed that of the 20 intensive care unit (ICU) beds available in healthcare institutions in the province, 10 were in use, while 152 out of the 303 allocated Covid-19 beds were also occupied; of the 341 dedicated isolation beds in hospitals in the Province, 193 were still available.

For the three highly urbanized cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu, 155 of the 242 allocated ICU beds were in use.

The DOH 7 also reported that 162 of the 443 dedicated Covid-19 ward beds in these three cities and 250 of the 745 dedicated isolation beds were available as of Sept. 10. (WBS)
