DESPITE being the first on the list of PDP-Laban's senatorial bets, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello said he is still contemplating on accepting the nomination.

"I am inclined to run for senator to serve Filipinos better but there are matters that I still need to consider," Bello said during his recent visit in Pampanga.

He said he is still waiting for the consent of his youngest child, although his wife expressed full support for his possible candidacy.

If given a chance, Bello said he will focus on bills that will benefit and promote the rights of Filipino workers and their families.

"I was exposed to the many problems faced by our workers and I saw how our programs in DOLE helped them so I wanted to strengthen those programs to ensure that it will benefit more Filipinos," he said.

Meanwhile, Bello expressed gratitude to officials of Pampanga led by Governor Dennis Pineda for their constant support for him.

Prior to attending the PDP-Laban convention held recently at the LausGroup Event Centre, Bello met with Pineda, Vice Governor Lilia Pineda and local chief executives in the province during his courtesy call at the Provincial Capitol.

"I'm touched by the support shown by Governor Dennis and Vice Governor Nanay. I have seen how they work for the betterment of Kapampangans that is why I am seeking their advice on whatever decision I will make for the upcoming 2022 elections," said Bello.
