Meditalk: How to address mental exhaustion (Part 1)

DEAR Dr. Fritz,

Good day. Please call me Almira. I am a mother of two and am working as a call center agent. I don’t understand what’s happening with me lately because I am getting irritated even with little things and am growing impatient. I feel drained. I was not like this before. How do I know if this is mental exhaustion? If I do, please tell me what to do.

Thanks and God bless.

Dear Almira Capricorn,

I understand what you feel. And I believe as you lay down your situation, as you have two children and working as a call center agent, these things can get you mentally exhausted.

Ok, let’s get down to let you know that you are mentally exhausted.

You are angry and getting impatient.

Well, you have this. I can understand why you can be both angry and impatient because mental fatigue can get you in a bad mood. It’s really hard to control one’s emotions if you are mentally drained.

You can’t finish your work.

Mental exhaustion can make it hard to focus. It also puts off your desires and motivation. You are missing your deadlines and even small things can be too much for you. You tend to overreact to petty things.

Your mind is not there with you.

You may feel drowsy. It would be hard for you to focus on what you are doing and you may not be able to react to things in a zap. This is so dangerous especially, if you are driving. So, just like, if you drink, don’t drive, if you are mentally fatigued, don’t drive as well. Or you may endanger lives, which could be your own.

Well, we’re out of space right now. Let’s continue this next time. Until then!
